Leeward

The side of the boat (or course) the wind is going to.

Leeward (pronounced 'LOO-erd' on most boats) is the side of the boat or course that the wind is going to. Opposite of windward. In a fleet, leeward boats have right of way over windward boats on the same tack. A 'leeward mark' is a mark of the course downwind from the start.
