Leech
The trailing edge of a sail.
The leech is the trailing (back) edge of a sail, opposite the luff. On a mainsail, the leech runs from the head (top) down to the clew (back corner). Leech tension is a key sail-trim adjustment — a tight leech adds power but stalls in light wind; a loose leech twists off and depowers the top of the sail in heavy wind.
